At Goodman Dachshunds, we believe raising a healthy, well-socialized puppy starts long before they're born. From carefully selecting our breeding pairs to providing hands-on care, early socialization, and veterinary attention, we put a great deal of time and dedication into every litter. Our goal is to give each puppy the best possible start in life and prepare them to become a cherished member of their new family.

Every puppy comes with a written one-year genetic health guarantee covering qualifying hereditary conditions, as outlined in our puppy contract. Our breeding dogs undergo genetic testing and OFA health evaluations to help us make responsible breeding decisions. To activate the guarantee, puppies must be examined by a licensed veterinarian within 72 hours of pickup, with the examination records and invoice submitted within 5 days.
All Goodman Dachshunds' puppies come with American Kennel Club (AKC) Limited Registration, verifying their purebred status. Limited Registration means the puppy can be registered with the AKC, but any offspring they produce are not eligible for AKC registration. Our puppies are placed primarily as family companions, with spaying or neutering required by one year of age unless otherwise agreed upon in writing.
Our puppies begin deworming between two and three weeks of age, with treatments repeated every two weeks until they go home. At approximately eight weeks old, each puppy receives their first DHPP vaccination, providing initial protection against several serious canine diseases. Families receive their puppy's vaccination and deworming records, along with our recommended vaccination schedule to review with their veterinarian.
Every puppy goes home with a starter kit to help make the transition into their new home easier. Each kit includes a 3-pound bag of Hill's Science Diet Small & Mini Puppy food, food and water bowls, a collapsible travel bowl, a collar, leash, blanket, toys, grooming brushes, nail clippers, dental care accessories, waste bags, a training clicker, and a treat pouch. We've selected these essentials to help families get started with feeding, grooming, training, and everyday puppy care.
Every puppy is microchipped through AKC Reunite before leaving our care. The microchip is registered to their new owner prior to pickup, providing a permanent form of identification if they ever become lost. Families receive their puppy's microchip information and are encouraged to keep their contact details updated throughout their dog's life.
Our commitment to our puppies doesn't end when they leave our home! We're always happy to answer questions, offer guidance, and help families navigate everything from potty training and grooming to nutrition and general dachshund care. We also love staying in touch with our puppy families and receiving pictures and updates as our puppies grow!
